by DrkSnpr14 on June 28, 2008, 05:25:00 AM It's good to have some news again, even if it is a little bit.
This nice little snipit comes from the UK based PlayStation World Magazine
- Most of you will know Simon Peg from great films such as Hot Fuzz, and Shaun of the Dead (which features TimeSplitters 2 in the movie) The idea that he might even be slightly involved is an excellent one in my personal opinion. Not only is he hilarious, but he can bring a lot of validity to the series.

NOTE - Credit to god0fgod for getting a readable image. This can be dug at his site here - http://godofgod.co.uk/frd/archives/74
Details wise, this finally confirms two long lingering questions for us
- There WILL be a story mode - After much speculation, it was thought there would be no story at all, given the initial attention given to multiplayer
- Playstation 3 is (mostly) Confirmed as a console we will see TimeSplitters 4 on - Though no official announcement of the sort has been made, it's probably safe to assume we will see TimeSplitters 4 on the Playstation 3, for two main reasons. 1) Haze is already for PS3 exclusively (for now) and seeing that TimeSplitters 4 will use the Haze engine, it only makes sense. 2) These scans and interviews come from a Playstation Exclusive publication. No sense featuring games coming to the 360 or wii exclusively in such a magazine
It's also worth noting that although there will be a story mode, we now have further confirmation that the main focus on the game will be multi-player. Lets cross our fingers and pray they get online right this time!
What's also exciting is the fact that Free Radical are at least letting us know they are progressing in development from sheer conceptual to actual computing. With a lack of details and updates, it's just good to hear they are at least working on it.

A little piece of gameplay direction has also come to light. According to this brief bit of text,
.."Doak wants to bring elements of Haze's asymmetric combat (where each side has very different skill sets) to the 'Splitters world."
We'll have to wait and see what that entails, but for now, just think of the possibilities of a chain saw.

by Jolteon on April 14, 2008, 02:30:00 PM The latest issue of the PSM3 magazine (UK - Issue 100) features a small article on TimeSplitters 4. Full information on this can be found on this post here.
The article shows an image from TimeSplitters 4 with a caption that TS4 will be based upon the Haze Engine.
From PSM3's interview:
"My plans for a car made of lava, driven by a pirate and firing out ninjas was rejected because it wasn't crazy enough." confesses Free Radical's script writer Rob Yescombe. We laugh. Rob remains straight faced. And out heart skips, because TimeSplitters 4 is returning to the series' irreverent roots after the lackluster Future Perfect. While previous games where a pastiche of cinema, TimeSplitters 4 will subert video game cliches as our exclusive artwork - mocking need for speed - suggests.
Free Rad's head honcho, David Doak admits that they are "still not set on a dirrection" for TS4's gameplay, but they're going to distil the best bits of the series. The character style will be more realistic (well, as real as a monkey with a banana gun can be) but with charicature faces. The game will use the Haze engine, suggesting great things (see Haze on page 42) Further details are set to be announced in the comming months, so keep it PSM3
This confirms two big questions for us now.
1) TimeSplitters 4 will be using the Haze engine, instead of the classic Goldeneye one. And from what we've seen from Haze so far, that can only be a good thing.
2) TimeSplitters 4 character models will keep their classic characterized TS style
This site will definitly be watching PSM for more news and updates, and we will continue to post them as they happen.

by DrkSnpr14 on April 05, 2008, 03:48:00 AM Nothing new has been announced, but some re-assurance came from FRD in this totalvideogames.com update on Haze (Which is how we seem to be getting all the TimeSplitters info these days)
Link
"We're still exploring our options with it and trying things out. We're deliberately taking our time to make sure that it's the game we want to make and what the fans want. There are some awesome ideas, even by Timesplitters standards. The sort of environments and characters in it are the most insane things I've ever seen - there's some fantastic stuff. Yeah, it's all very exciting, but at the moment we're just focusing on putting the finishing touches to Haze."
Understandable they should be focusing on getting Haze out the door. With one major project down, they'll have much more time to work on TimeSplitters
